A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY…
The family-run company was founded in the 1930s when Giovanni purchased the Castle with its historic cellars, vineyards, and farmhouses. The company takes its name from the village of the same name, two kilometers from Ovada, a historic town in Monferrato founded by the ancient Romans at the confluence of the Orba and Stura rivers, 34 km from Alessandria and 20 minutes from the sea of Genoa.
EVOLUTION
With the departure of the old caretakers, Francesco's father, Paolo, began to personally take care of the vineyards, leaving behind the industrial activities the family had started in Genoa. The young Francesco, a globetrotting engineer, helped him occasionally during summer holidays, but in 2003 he decided to follow in his footsteps, dedicating himself with passion and entrepreneurial spirit to winemaking. Thus began an extensive renovation of the vineyard and the reorganization of the cellars; the buildings were restored and modernized, and by restoring an old farmhouse, the guesthouse was created.
The next generation ─ Filippo, director of photography and video operator, and Federica, head of marketing and communication ─ although young, help and share the great dream of the Castello di Grillano started by their great-grandparents almost a century ago.
